Prix Marc de Montalembert 2024<\/a><\/h2>

Alessandro Serrani, from Italy, with a PhD in Visual, Performing and Media Arts from the University of Bologna, is the winner of the Prix Marc de Montalembert 2024 for his research on \u201cCarlo Crivelli\u2019s polyptychs along the Marches coast: philology and graphic reconstructions\u201d with a view to proposing reconstructions of those that have been dismembered and dispersed. The Prix is presented in association with the Ecole du Louvre. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

Bourse Marc de Montalembert 2023<\/a><\/h2>

The 2023 Marc de Montalembert grant is awarded to Astrid Boisgibault, France, for her project \"Objets quotidiens et art de la table en M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e : rencontres et cr\u00e9ation\", a research and creation project on table art in the Mediterranean culture centred on ceramic and textile crafts. The project will be implemented in a study travel in various Mediterranean countries. The grant will be presented on the annual opening day of the Foundation in Rhodes on April 25th, 2023. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

Prix Marc de Montalembert 2023<\/a><\/h2>

The Marc de Montalembert 2023 Prize is awarded to Dr. Nadine Atallah, Franco-Egyptian, PhD in Art History from the University of Paris 1 Panth\u00e9on-Sorbonne, associate researcher at the InVisu laboratory (CNRS\/INHA) and professor of history and theory of arts at the \u00c9cole Europ\u00e9enne Sup\u00e9rieure d\u2019Art de Bretagne in Rennes. The prize crowns a brilliant career and it will allow the winner to extend her research on visual artists in Egypt in the 20th century. The Prize supports her research on \u201cThe contradictory allegiances of Inji Efflatoun (1924-1989). Trajectory of a militant artist through 20th century Egypt\u201d. The \u00c9cole du Louvre Research Centre will provide its support\u00a0 throughout 2023. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

April 27, 2022 : Annual opening of the Foundation<\/a><\/h2>

After an interruption of two years, the annual opening of the Foundation in Rhodes took place on the day of saint Marc on April 27th with a numerous participation. Two winners of the grant presented their work.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Prix Marc de Montalembert 2022<\/a><\/h2>

Mohamed Ibrahim from Egypt, PhD in Islamic archeology, Department of Islamic archeology at University Ain Shams at Cairo is the winner of the 2022 Marc de Montalembert Prize for his research entitled \"Mamluk chivalry through Military painted Manuscripts\u201d.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Bourse Marc de Montalembert 2021<\/a><\/h2>

The\u00a02021 Marc de Montalembert grant\u00a0is awarded to Gabriele Langosco, from Italy for his project \u201c Scultura genovese. Rotte mediterranee nell\u2019et\u00e0 di Fillippo II \u201d, The project intends to carry out a study of the export of Genoese marble sculptures to the Iberian and Mediterranean centers where the main routes converged at the time of Philip II (1556-1598). The research will be carried out mainly in Spain. The grant was due to be presented on the annual opening day of the Foundation in Rhodes. This event had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

Bourse Marc de Montalembert 2020<\/a><\/h2>

The\u00a02020 Marc de Montalembert grant\u00a0is awarded to\u00a0Ga\u00ebtan Soerensen, from France for his project \u201c WAFQ \u201d, the name of a traditional palestinian land tenure system. The project consists of a photographic testimony that the winner will collect about the traditional relationships which the Palestinian people continue to maintain with their lands despite their situations. The grant was due to be presented on the annual opening day of the Foundation in Rhodes on April 25, 2020. This event was cancelled due to the current situation with the pandemic. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

Prix Marc de Montalembert 2020<\/a><\/h2>

The winner of the 2020 Marc de Montalembert Prize is Geoffrey Meyer-Fernandez, from France, PhD in art history from the Aix-Marseille University, for his research : \u00ab Between Orient and Occident : three churches painted by Greek families in Crete, in Cyprus and Rhodes (XIVe-XVe si\u00e8cle) \u00bb. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

Opening of the garden of the Foundation<\/a><\/h2>

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days and of the ten years of the association Rhodes International Culture & Heritage Society (RICHeS), the Foundation opened the doors of its garden to the public as one of fifteen sites of the medieval town of Rhodes. Some 1500 people of whom many families with children discovered and visited the garden \u2013 a great success. 28-29 September 2019 \u00a0 <\/p><\/div><\/div>

Bourse Marc de Montalembert 2019<\/a><\/h2>

The\u00a02019 Marc de Montalembert grant\u00a0is awarded to\u00a0Miyuka Schipfer, from France for her project \u201cPortrait de M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e \/ Cultures et Croyances\u201d. The winner is an artist who wishes to work from travels. Her project is to travel in the Near East to explore cultures and beliefs and then to share images and drawings in an artist book which will witness through her eyes the diversity of the cultures and beliefs which she will have come across.30 March 2019 <\/p><\/div><\/div>

Presentation of the 2018 Marc de Montalembert Prize<\/a><\/h2>

The 2018 Marc de Montalembert Prize was presented to Claire CAMBERLEIN, from France, for her research entitled \u201cReuse of the past in Greek antiquity. Study of memory phenomena at Rhodes and in the Dodecanese between the XVth and the Vth century before J.C.\u201d. The Prize was presented by Professor Anne Jacquemin, emeritus professor of Greek history at the University of Strasbourg, at the seat of the Institut national d\u2019histoire de l\u2019art (INHA) in Paris. On this occasion Elie ESSA KAS HANNA, from Syria, 2018 Marc de Montalembert Prize, delivered a lecture on the results of his research on \u201cThe monasteries on the smaller islands of Provence and the archipelagos of Liguria and Tuscany from late Antiquity to Middle Age\u201d. 20 March 2019 <\/p><\/div><\/div>

The winner of the 2019 Marc de Montalembert Prize is Claire Camberlein, from France, PhD in archeology of the University of Strasbourg for her research \u201cReuse of the past in Greek antiquity. Annual opening of the Foundation in Rhodes and presentation of the 2018 Marc de Montalembert grant by Mr Luigi Marras, Ambassador of Italy in Greece, to Maria Luisa Colli, Italy, for her project \u201cLe pescatrici del Mediterraneo : spazi e pratiche delle donne del mare\u201d \u2013 about women involved in fishing in the Mediterranean. On that same occasion Marine Messina winner of the 2017 grant presented the results of her project \u201cMots pour maux\u201d which aimed at transmitting the voice of isolated migrant children; she travelled to Cyprus, Greece, Turkey and Giordan to collect their story.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

The\u00a02018 Marc de Montalembert grant\u00a0is awarded to\u00a0Maria Luisa Colli\u00a0from Italy for her project \u201cLe pescatrici del Mediterraneo: spazi e pratiche delle donne del mare \u201c. Aim of the project is to obtain better knowledge and understanding of the activities, experiences, the active role and organizations of fisherwomen in three Mediterranean seaside locations, in France and Libanon.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

21 March 2018<\/a><\/h2>

The 2018 Marc de Montalembert Prize was presented to Elie ESSA KAS HANNA, from Syria, for his research on \u201cThe monasteries on the smaller islands of Provence and the archipelagos of Liguria and Tuscany from late Antiquity to Middle Age\u201d. Professor Philippe Pergola, head of research at CNRS Marseille presented the Prize at the seat of the Institut national d\u2019histoire de l\u2019art (INHA) in Paris. On this occasion Mathieu Beaud, 2017 Marc de Montalembert Prize, delivered a lecture on his research entitled \u201c\"Visual culture\" and \"civic religion\" : the face of the dome and of the San Zeno basilica in Verona\u201c.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

The winner of the Marc de Montalembert 2018 Prize is Elie Essa Kas Hanna from Syria, PhD in archeology of the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archeology of Rome for his research on \u00ab Monasteries in smaller islands of Provence and in ligurian and toscan archipelagos \u00bb. The Prize will be presented in Paris on March 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Institut National d\u2019Histoire de l\u2019Art. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

The Foundation supports the Project \u201cAni-Mate & Meet the Other\u201d<\/a><\/h2>

The Foundation provides financial support to the extension of the \u201cAni-Mate & Meet the Other\u201d project over the 2017 summer period for the benefit of Syrian refugee children on the island of Rhodes, in Greece. Informal education, arts and culture are used to create solidarity among the local community and refugee children. At the same time, the initiative helps to enroll refugee children in Greek schools and thereby contributes to their integration. The project will continue during the summer period its activities for the benefit of children from Syrian refugee families with the involvement of some Greek children. The project\u2019 activities consist of music lessons, music and singing workshops, photography, film projections, etc. Young local volunteers are in charge of the activities. 01-07-2017<\/p><\/div><\/div>
